The Animated Series' Creator Has Seen Fans' Second Season Bingo Cards — With Some Good News

The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.

Season 1 introduces a large cast of characters living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.

The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

The creator says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.

That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens this season.

"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.

"I've seen a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
